DNL PROJECTS in PREMIERE

What’s the point of these projects?

It's to:
  • practice your English (especially spoken) & your communication skills;
  • do something you enjoy and are good at with people you get on well with;
  • learn/do something new;
  • be useful!
Here are some ideas for projects (you can take part in one or more project, you are expected to spend one hour of class time on your project plus any time you want outside class!):

Debating team
Contribute to the Section Euro Term debates; also organize an inter-lycées debate for 1ères pupils on the theme of voting rights at 16.

Buddy group
Welcome to Massillon! Raise funds (pancake party, etc.?) and spend the money on activities to make people new to Massillon feel welcome ; adopt new pupils and help them (homework, etc.).

Islands
Research project (using a blog) on islands, real and imaginary, in preparation for a “Musiques démesurées” performance in November 2013 (based on More's Utopia).

WALL
Walls divide, hide, protect, incarcerate. Some are (in)famous, some are in the mind… Organize a wall-painting competition; list the world’s walls on a blog.

APEL support group
Contribute to the activities of the APEL.

Storytellers
Read and recite stories for the kindergarten children (and teach them nursery rhymes and songs).

Theatre & music group
Write and perform a short play on the theme of being lost on an island (this is a contribution to the European Year of Citizens).

ARTicle²
Visit art exhibitions and write reviews for the Arts blog.

SCBA supporters
Promote the local basketball team (blog, posters, interviews of the players, away matches, etc.).

What’s on?
Draw up a monthly listing of interesting activities in town for teenagers. Put up posters; write a column for the Alphabet soup blog; print paper table mats to distribute to restaurants paid for with adverts (money-raiser).

Today is…
A blog on (UN) international days, and European-wide and national days; explain what the days mark or celebrate and propose activities to do with those days.

Journalists
Contribute articles to the various blogs in English of Massillon.

Conduct interviews, etc. for radio (if they are good, Radio Campus will be interested in broadcasting them!). Radio Campus organizes workshops you can take part in.

Themed visit of the Musée d'Art Roger Quillot
Find works of art in the MARQ which correspond to the theme of (self) portraits, carry out research on them, present them to various groups (this is a contribution to the European Year of Citizens).

Our neighbourhood
Photo essay on the quartier of Massillon: you will interview local people and take high-quality photos. This project will continue next year and beyond, and will be carried out with partner schools (who will do the same project for their neighbourhoods).

Play time!
Bored at break time? Come and play board games in English!

Do your own thing!
If you have a great idea, go for it!
